The Finer Things Show & Sale (FTSS) is the brain child of some pals – artists and entrepreneurs – who had a hunch. What started out in the winter of 2015 as a modest house show quickly blossomed into an auditorium-scale event, and now takes place twice per year over two days; in winter it’s at Seeds of Change in the auditorium of Emmanuel East United Church (formerly George Street United Church), and in spring/summer it’s presented in partnership with the Art Gallery of Peterborough. The event brings together accomplished artists and craftspeople and hundreds of visitors, largely from the region and increasingly from beyond, and has become a must-see, must-experience happening.

Mission

The Finer Things Show and Sale is a distinctive, seasonal marketplace that brings together specialty craftspeople, artists, shoppers, collectors, and like-minded appreciators. It features a competitively selected group of inspired and skilled vendors, and serves as a professional development, promotional, and community-building opportunity. FTSS wishes to play a role in fostering a flourishing, local, creative community, and to create events that are profitable and stimulating growth opportunities to artists and craftspeople, compelling experiences for visitors, and celebratory for all involved. It is a joyful and spectacular event in both spirit and style.

Vendor Selection

The Finer Things vendor selection process reflects the desire to encourage innovation, and to provide visitors with a combination of show favourites and fresh ideas. The process is competitive, and prioritizes, but is not limited to, vendors based in the Peterborough and immediately surrounding regions.

The Finer Things Team

The FTSS team consists of a whole pile of volunteers, Art Gallery of Peterborough staff, and Event Coordinator, Leslie Menagh.
