FTSS began in the winter of 2015 as a modest house show and quickly blossomed into an auditorium-scale event. It now takes place twice per year; in winter it’s at Seeds of Change in the auditorium of Emmanuel East United Church (formerly George Street United Church), and in spring/summer it’s presented in partnership with, and on the grounds of the Art Gallery of Peterborough. The event brings together accomplished artists and craftspeople and hundreds of visitors, largely from the region and increasingly from beyond, and has become a must-see, must-experience happening.
The FTSS vendor selection process reflects the desire to encourage innovation, and to provide visitors with a combination of show favourites and fresh ideas. The process is competitive, and prioritizes but is not limited to vendors based in the Peterborough and immediately surrounding regions. FTSS is a Madderhouse Textile Studios production, and is supported by the Art Gallery of Peterborough, as well as a whole incredible team volunteers.
